Cary, N.C. – Wrapping up the Spartans' MEAC Tennis Roundup slate at Cary Tennis Park, Coppin State defeated NSU 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.
Federico Rebecchini and
Hugo Massoni Lena earned their first doubles victory of the season together at the top spot, defeating CSU's Luka Markovic and Sergui Medesan 7-6 (7-4). The Eagles won the doubles match on Court 2, with Vansh Kapoor and Dean Waterman winning 6-2 against
Roosevelt Brown III and
Ibrahim Abbas.
The teams defaulted at No.3 doubles and No. 6 singles, while NSU's
Jeremiah Zellander received a win by default at the No. 5 position.
Rebechinni bested Markovic again in singles, winning 6-2, 6-1 at the top spot. Medesan defeated Massoni Lena 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 2 position.
Kapoor took down Abbas 6-2, 6-0 at the third singles slot, and Brown lost 6-1, 6-2 in the fourth position.
The loss dropped the Spartans to 0-6 on the season, 0-3 in the conference. The team returns to NSU Tennis Complex for a home bout with Temple on Sunday, Mar. 27 at 1 p.m.
