Norfolk, Va. – Norfolk State freshman Aleksandra Evdokimova earned MEAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors, the league announced Wednesday. Evdokimova provided a steady presence at the top of the lineup last week, going 2-1 in singles matches and 2-1 in doubles.
 
In NSU's 4-0 victory over Hampton, Evdokiomva earned a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles alongside fellow freshman Breana Cook. The doubles pair prospered two days later as well, Longwood's second-seeded team 6-3.
 
At the top singles position, Evdokimova earned victories against both Hampton and Longwood. She took down HU's Milena Amedieva 6-3, 6-1 on Friday, and defeated LU's Emma Nurgazieva 6-2, 6-3 on Sunday. Evdokimova's only singles loss of the week came against ODU's Yulia Starodubtseva, the 33^rd ranked player in the country.
 
The recognitions marked the second and third weekly honors for Evdokimova in her first season, winning Player of the Week on Mar. 2.
