Elon, N.C. – NSU dropped its second straight match Friday, falling 6-1 on the road against Elon.
Niya Grant earned the Spartans' lone point of the day.

Elon won the opening doubles point to get an early advantage at home.
Zada McMorris and
Andrea Barcenas lost 6-1 at No. 2 for the Spartans, before
Laura Ruiz and
Breana Cook fell by the same score at Court 3. Â Elon's Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding took down
Amber Fuller and
Aleksandra Evdokimova 6-3 to complete the doubles sweep.

After losing the first set 6-1 at No. 6 singles,
Niya Grant got the Spartans on the board, winning her match by opponent retirement. But the Phoenix regained the lead shortly after, as Julie Ball won by opponent retirement against Cook at the No. 4 position.

After losing the first set 6-0 to Tanik, Evdokimova nearly forced a third, ultimately dropping the second 6-4 at the top singles spot. Olivia Archer defeated Ruiz 6-2, 6-3 on Court 4 to clinch the team victory for the Phoenix.

Reding won 6-4, 6-0 against Fuller at No. 2 singles, before Elon's Victoria Saldh closed out the day with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over
Andrea Barcenas on Court 3.

The Spartans will look to bounce back next weekend against North Carolina Central. The match will take place on Apr. 2 in Durham, N.C. at 11 a.m.
