HAMPTON, Va. – On the final leg of a lengthy series between the schools, Hampton defeated Norfolk State 4-0 at Neilson-Screen Stadium on Friday. The meeting marked the fourth time that the programs had met this season, and third in three days.

Hampton took control of the match early by winning the doubles point. The Pirates won the No. 3 slot by default before
Vincent Jarvis and
Ryan Richter lost 6-0 at the No. 2 position.
Federico Rebecchini and
Hugo Massoni Lena were tied 3-3 on Court 1 against Ange-Kevin Koua and Fayz Mavlyudov when Hampton clinched the opening point.

With the Pirates winning No. 6 singles by default, Hampton only needed two more points to clinch the match. Mavlyudov defeated NSU freshman
Roosevelt Brown III 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3 slot, and Jeremiah Williams took down Jarvis by the same score soon after to clinch the Pirates' win.

The three remaining singles matches went unfinished. Massoni Lena trailed Koua 4-1 in the first set on Court 1, while Rebecchini led Cliff Dwyer 5-1 on Court 2. Richter had fallen behind 6-0, 2-0 at the No. 4 position.

The Spartans (2-13) return to the court tomorrow for their fifth match in four days, facing Navy to conclude the regular season.
