NORFOLK, Va – Norfolk State concluded its regular season at NSU Tennis Complex on an overcast Saturday morning, falling 7-0 to Navy.

The Midshipmen took control of the match early, sweeping the opening doubles point. Navy won the No. 3 slot by default, and won 6-0 at No. 2.
Federico Rebecchini and
Hugo Massoni Lena started their match close at the top spot, but Christian Pumpelly and Nicholas Nguyen ultimately pulled away for Navy 6-2.

Navy won No. 6 singles by default, before
Roosevelt Brown III and
Ryan Richter each lost 6-0, 6-0 at positions four and five, respectively. Navy senior Conners O'Brien defeated
Ibrahim Abbas 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 shortly after, and Jake Fishkin beat Massoni Lena 6-2, 6-1 on Court 2.

Rebecchini and Navy senior Jack McBride stole the show at the top of the lineup, staying neck-and-neck with lengthy rallies and crafty winners. McBride pulled out the first set 7-5, but Rebecchini bounced back to win the second 6-4. The match went to a third set tiebreak, with McBride coming out on top 10-6.

The Spartans (2-14) have a nearly two-week layoff, before heading to Cary, North Carolina for the start of the MEAC Tennis Championships on Apr. 28.
