CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Malika Pride posted a pair of top-10 finishes over the weekend to lead a small contingent of Norfolk State women's track and field athletes in action at the Virginia Challenge hosted by U.Va.
Pride clocked a season-best time of 23.82 seconds to place fourth in the 200 meters. That time ranks fourth in the MEAC so far this year. Pride also placed in the top 10 in the 400, registering a time of 54.69 to finish eighth.
Two other Spartans turned in personal and season-best performances.
Kara Grant posted a time of 2:13.64 in the 800 meters, a season-best result that ranks her No. 3 in the MEAC this year.
Zion Smith set a new PR with a 14.18 clocking in the 100-meter hurdles. Teammate
Indya Richards also ran well, posting a 14.28. Both athletes placed in the top 25 in the event at U.Va.
De'Niya Gravely just missed her PR in the 200, posting a time of 24.49.
The Spartans are right back in action at U.Va. next weekend for the Virginia Grand Prix.
