Norfolk, Va. – Norfolk State picked up its first win of the season on Saturday in dominant fashion, cruising past Virginia State 5-1 at NSU Tennis Complex.

NSU got off to a hot start, taking the doubles point for the first time this year. Vincent Jarvis and Ryan Richter received a win at the No. 3 position by default, before
Ibrahim Abbas and
Roosevelt Brown III earned a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Federico Rebecchini and
Hugo Massoni Lena led 4-2 on Court 1 when the Spartans clinched the opening point.

NSU built on its early lead quickly in singles play, as Jarvis won by default at the No. 6 position. Rebecchini beat VSU's Nigel Stewart 6-0, 6-0 at the top of the lineup, and Massoni Lena defeated Laurance Britt by the same score.

Abbas earned his first win of the season 6-0, 6-0, while Brown maintained a 6-2, 3-1 lead at No. 4 singles when the match ended.
