BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Norfolk State sophomore
Isaac Haywood posted his second-best effort of the outdoor track season in the triple jump at the NCAA East Preliminary Round on Friday, but fell jus shy of advancing to the national meet next month.
Haywood jumped 50 feet, 4.75 inches on his first attempt in his first career appearance at the regionals. That ended up being good enough for 22
nd place out of the 48-man field. Only the top 12 advance to nationals next month.
Haywood had a strong sophomore season for NSU, placing second at both the MEAC indoor and outdoor meets in the triple jump.
All three Spartan men's track and field athletes who participated at regionals this week will be back next year, leading a team which swept the conference's indoor and outdoor championships in 2021-22.
