MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – Norfolk State newcomer
Gidion Sigei paced the Norfolk State men's cross country team at its season-opener, the Richmond Spider Alumni Open on Saturday morning at Pole Green Park.
Sigei, a sophomore, finished the 6K course in 18 minutes, 15.5 seconds in his first meet as a Spartan.
Regan Kimtai was the next Spartan to finish, clocking a time of 18:34.5.
Evans Cheruiyot was third among the Spartan finishers with a time of 19:55.5. Isa Sulieman rounded out the Spartans' four-man contingent with a time of 20:11.5, good for 56th place.
The Spartans are off this coming week before returning to action on Sept. 16 at the U.Va. Invitational in Earlysville.
