VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Joshua Sutton and
Gidion Sigei earned first place finishes as the Norfolk State men's track and field team opened 2023 at the VCU Indoor Invitational.

Sutton posted a mark of six feet, 5.5 inches to win the high jump, while teammate
Terric Jones nabbed third with 6-3.5.

Norfolk State dominated the 3000 meters, starting with Sigei's first-place finish in 8:35.73.
Brian Rotich followed closely behind for second, clocking a time of 8:39.48.

Kai Cole got his senior season underway in impressive fashion, racking up two second place finishes with a 34.78-second 300 meter performance and 6.77 second 60 meter. He crossed the finish line just three hundredths of a second behind St. Augustine's Terrell Robinson.

Camren Wynder-Hill took second in the long jump with a mark of 23 feet, 5.5 inches, while
Dwight Henry added a runner-up finish in the 60 meter hurdles (8.08 seconds).

The Spartans finished the afternoon with a strong second place showing in the 4x400 meter relay, as Wynder-Hill,
Jeremiah Zellander,
Dazon Harrison, and
Knasir Alston crossed the finish line in 3:26.93.
