NORFOLK, Va. – Former Norfolk State basketball star
Joe Bryant Jr. is making the most of his opportunities at the professional level.
Â
After a pair of exceptional performances on the reserve team, Bryant was called up to the Śląsk Wrocław primary roster for the team's matchup against U-BT Cluj-Napoca on Wednesday.
Â
The decision came after strong showings in the Polish 1Liga organization, amassing 56 points in two games. Bryant recorded 24 points, five assists, and three rebounds against Radom, before exploding for 32 points, six assists, and three rebounds against Opole a week later.
Â
The latter performance helped push Slask II to a 97-89 victory, while earning him the Hoops Agents 1Liga Player of the Week honors. Through two games, he led the league with 28.0 points per game.
Â
Bryant played a limited role off the bench in his first appearance on the primary team, competing in the Eurocup. He logged two points and one rebound in eight minutes of action against Cluj Napoca.
Â
The two-time MEAC Player of the Year led Norfolk State to MEAC Tournament titles in 2021 and 2022, picking up MEAC Tournament MVP accolades for both. He amassed 1,747 points, 540 rebounds, and 318 assists in a Spartan uniform, shooting a program-record 86.6 percent from the free throw line.
