NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State football team (2-7, 0-3 MEAC) looks to get back in the win column this weekend, facing a struggling Delaware State (1-8, 0-3) squad.

The Spartans showed fight last week against No. 9 North Carolina Central (8-1, 3-0), falling 38-24. Trailing 28-3 in the second quarter without its starting quarterback, Norfolk State scored 21 consecutive points to pull within one possession.

"I think you can see how we closed the gap from a year ago, when we played them and the game wasn't close," NSU head coach Dawson Odums said. "You can see how one offseason together has transformed this team. The wins will come, but you have to first become a team, learn how to be competitive, and that team has to learn how to win. You can't skip steps."

Backup quarterback Cameron Sapp, battling an illness on Saturday, made an immediate impact after entering the game in the second quarter. Sapp completed 14-of-30 passes for 192 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

Saturday's game will be streamed live on ESPN+. Norfolk State will broadcast the game on Hot 91.1 FM (WNSB), with Ross Gordon on the call.
