Marty Miller, Debbie Dunn Anderson To Be Inducted Into MEAC Hall of Fame

| By:
NORFOLK, Va. – Two legendary Norfolk State figures will be inducted into the 2024 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Hall of Fame Class – Marty Miller and Debbie Dunn Anderson.

The MEAC announced the five members of the 2024 Hall of Fame Class on Wednesday evening: Miller, Anderson, Charlie Brown (South Carolina State), Javon Hargrave (South Carolina State), and William "Bill" Moultrie (Howard).

"Congratulations to the five inductees of the MEAC's 2024 Hall of Fame Class," MEAC Commissioner Sonja Stills said. "This year's class highlights some of the MEAC's best in the spirit of competition. These talented student-athletes have demonstrated a prominent level of representation of their institutions and the conference during and after their years of collegiate competition. These five inductees are exemplary representatives of the MEAC, and it is an honor to welcome them as our newest members to the Hall of Fame."

Miller spent 32 years as the head coach of the Norfolk State baseball program, before becoming the school's athletic director for 15 years. Serving the longest tenure of any AD in Spartan history, Norfolk State won 26 MEAC team championships during his time at the helm. Under his watch, the department's NCAA graduation success rate rose from 40% to 75%.

Dunn not only cemented herself at Norfolk State as one of the best track athletes in program history, but achieved dominance at a global state. The former Spartan great won the 400 meters at the 2010 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, posting a personal-best time of 49.64 seconds.

Dunn, who was NSU's first-ever Division I female track All-American, earned herself a spot in the U.S. 1,600-meter relay pool for the 2012 London Olympics.

The MEAC Hall of Fame highlights former student-athletes, coaches, university and conference administrators, and notable contributors who have enriched the conference's legacy since its inception in 1970. Enshrinees are selected by an eight-person committee of administrators and member institution representatives.

The inaugural MEAC Hall of Fame class was inducted on May 29, 1981, during a 10th anniversary banquet in Greensboro, N.C. Since its establishment, the MEAC Hall of Fame has enshrined 173 people, including the Class of 2024.

Additional details regarding the induction ceremony will be announced at a later date.
