NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men's basketball team heads to the Empire State this week for a pair of nonconference matchups against tough competition.
Â
The Spartans (7-3) face Stony Brook (4-5) on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 6:30 p.m., before going head-to-head against Hofstra (6-4) on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. Both schools compete in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA), which Norfolk State has already gained two wins against this year (Hampton, William & Mary).
Â
Norfolk State enters Wednesday's showdown on a three-game win streak, starting with a home rout of William & Mary (96-62). The Spartans followed that performance up with a pair of impressive road victories at VCU (63-60) and Illinois State (64-58).
Â
"We've got a good three-game win streak against some quality opponents, got some guarantee game wins, and now we're playing two quality opponents in New York," Norfolk State head coach
Robert Jones said. "It will be a good, tough road swing for us, before we get to come back home for one game."
Â
After a slow start to the season, Stony Brook has begun to hit its stride, winning matchups against Stonehill and Bryant. Hofstra, on the other hand, had its five-game win streak halted by losses to Saint Louis and Duke.
Â
Both games will be streamed live on FloHoops.
