NORFOLK, Va. | Norfolk State University head baseball coach
Keith Shumate announced on Thursday a schedule adjustment to the 2023 home opening series against Morehead State.
Â
The Spartans, who went 15-32 overall last season and 12-18 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), were scheduled to open the season on Friday as the two teams planned to play a four-game series. However, inclement weather scheduled for Friday forced changes to the weekend series.
Â
Norfolk State and Morehead State will now play two games on Saturday, starting at noon. The first game will be nine innings, followed by a seven-inning affair from Marty L. Miller Field. On Sunday, the two teams will play a doubleheader, two seven-inning games, starting at 11 a.m.
Â
The Spartans are playing their first season in the Northeast Conference (NEC) and were selected ninth in the preseason coaches poll.
Â
First pitch for Saturday's twinbill is set for 12 p.m., followed by the second game at 3 p.m.
