NORFOLK, Va. | The Norfolk State University softball team fell on final day of the Battle of the Bay Classic to the Raiders of Colgate University 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.
The Raiders (6-7) opened up the game with a single run in the top of the first inning on a single to third base, while the Spartans (7-4) left a pair of runners on the bases in the bottom half of the inning. The next three innings go by without any scores from either team.
Colgate adds a second run to its score before Norfolk State added a run of its own in the bottom half of the inning. The Spartans run was scored by Jade Dixon after Imani Moore singled to left field. Neither team managed to find the scoreboard the remainder of the game as Colgate claimed the 2-1 win.
The Spartans (7-4) return to the field on Friday, March 3, when they host the Pirate/Spartan Classic at the NSU Softball Field. Norfolk State will face Delaware and Binghamton at 10 AM and 3 PM respectively.
