NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men's tennis team (2-10) fell 4-0 on Friday morning to Monmouth (10-4), one of the top teams in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).

The Hawks swept doubles play at NSU Tennis Complex, starting with a 6-0 victory on Court 3. Arthur Dussaubat and Crisof Zeiler defeated
Boris Lunin and
Hugo Massoni Lena 6-2 at the No. 2 position, before Niels Van Noord and Victor Castro took down
Federico Rebecchini and
Adam Kaczmarek at the top spot.

In singles play, Zeiler put the Hawks ahead 2-0 with a win by retirement over Kaczmarek at the No. 3 slot, before Dussaubat defeated Hinton 6-0, 6-0 on Court 5.

Lucca Silva earned the clinching point for the Hawks, earning a 6-3, 6-3 win over Abbas at No. 6 singles.

Of the three unfinished matches on Friday, Norfolk State trailed in two and stood even in the third. After dropping the first set 6-3 at No. 3 singles, Lunin had fought back to take a 3-1 lead in the second set.

Rebecchini bounced back from an 0-6 first set at the No. 1 slot, taking the second 6-0 to force a third set. The third set sat at 1-1 when Monmouth clinched the team match.
