DOUGLASSVILLE, Ga. – The Norfolk State bowling team wrapped up its final tune-up competition on Sunday ahead of the MEAC Championships with a seventh-place finish at the TNBA/HBCU Invitational at Southern Lanes.

The Spartans went 4-8 across three days of competition, earning three of their four wins during the opening baker match portion. After starting the tournament 3-2 with victories over Grambling State, Southern, and Shaw, Norfolk State struggled in the traditional match play portion with an 0-4 record.

NSU ended the weekend on a positive note, beating Grambling State in the team's final bracket matchup 774-695.

Norfolk State's strongest performance came against Shaw, totaling a pinfall of 925 for a commanding 252-pin victory.

During traditional match play,
Megan Wheat led the Spartans with an average pinfall of 175.20, recording a high of 215 against Florida A&M.
Chanel Staton followed closely behind with a 167.80 average.

Norfolk State returns to action on Friday, Mar. 24 for the first day of the 2023 MEAC Bowling Championships. The competition will last until Sunday, Mar. 26, taking place at Pinboy's at the Beach in Virginia Beach, Va.
