BRIDGEWATER, N.J. | Norfolk State University junior
Dalton Barham was selected the Northeast Conference (NEC) Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Barham, a native of the Norfolk, Va., became the first Spartan pitcher to toss a complete game this season in NSU's 3-0 non-conference victory last week at home against VMI. He fanned a season-best 10 batters, walked one and scattered just two hits – bunt single in the second inning and a base hit to left in the fourth – in the complete-game shutout victory. Barham's efforts also guided the Spartans to their first victory in program history over VMI.
Central Connecticut State's Ramon Jimenez was tabbed the NEC's Player of the Week, while Stonehill's Sam Parks garnered Rookie of the Week honors.
Norfolk State is in action today (Tuesday) as the Spartans visit Longwood. First pitch against the Lancers is set for 6 p.m. from Buddy Bolding Stadium and fans can catch the action live on ESPN+.
