NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk State sprinter Kai Cole was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Track Athlete of the Week on Wednesday afternoon, the conference office announced.
The recognition marked the senior's second consecutive MEAC Weekly Honor, earning Co-Athlete of the Week on Apr. 19 as well. He has now racked up four weekly conference accolades this season.
The recognition comes after a showing to remember at the Virginia Challenge over the weekend, winning the 200 meters in 20.98 seconds. The time narrowly edged out Princeton's Joey Grant (21.00) and Pittsburgh's Nigel Hussey (21.02) to take first place.
Cole also ran a personal best in the 400 meters the day previously, earning 14th place with a time of 48.23 seconds.
Cole and the Spartans return to action this weekend at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa.
