NORFOLK, Va. -- Norfolk State softball senior
Cam Andersen has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week, presented by Coca-Cola, announced by the league office on Monday.
The senior in two appearances threw 12 innings during which she went 2-0 in the circle. Andersen gave up just one run on four hits while striking out 12 batters, including a season-high seven batters in game one of the three game series against Coppin State.
Andersen threw the complete game to start the series that ended in six innings with the Spartans winning 9-1, as well as six innings in the closing game of the series where she and teammate
Lauren Sheehan split a shutout of the Eagles with a 3-0 win.
On the season, Andersen has collected a 5-3 record in the pitchers circle throwing 60 innings with one combined shutout and two complete games. She has struck out 49 batters, which leads the team, while allowing 58 hits and 49 runs.
The Spartans (14-15 / 5-4) return to the field this Friday and Saturday when they host the Lady Bulldogs of South Carolina State University at the NSU Softball Field. Action begins at 1 PM for game one of the doubleheader.
