VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Norfolk State women's tennis team fell 7-0 to North Carolina Central on Saturday at the Virginia Beach Country Club.
With thunderstorms on the radar, Saturday's match was moved from NSU Tennis Complex to VBCC for indoor competition.
The Eagles took the opening doubles point by winning on Courts 1 and 2. Kennedy Hill and Candice Bernier defeated
Aleksandra Evdokimova and
Amal Gati 6-2 at the No. 1 position, while Lafi Joao and Jade Houston won 6-1 the No. 2 slot against
Zada McMorris and
Niya Grant.
The Eagles kept the momentum going in singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. North Carolina Central freshman Alejandra Hildalgo-Vega improved to 4-1 in MEAC play with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Evdokimova at the top of the lineup.
Norfolk State returns to action at NSU Tennis Complex on Tuesday, Apr. 11 at 12 p.m. for Senior Day against Hampton.
