NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State women's basketball team extended its win streak after beating Morgan State, 62-45, on Monday night at Echols Hall.

The Spartans (15-5, 4-1 MEAC) have won three straight and remain undefeated at home with a record of 5-0 at Echols Hall. With their win over the Bears (6-14, 1-4 MEAC) the Spartans hold the number one spot in the MEAC.

Leading by as much as 17 points, the Spartans defensive pressure was tremendous against the Bears.Â

The Spartans held the Bears to below ten points in both the first quarter (8) and fourth quarter (9). Collecting 16 steals as a team, seven different Spartans finished with at least one. Earning 27 takeaways, the Spartans garnered 24 points off turnovers.Â

Kierra Wheeler (4), Niya FIelds (2), Diamond Johnson (4), Da'naijah Williams (2), and Da'Brya Clark (2) each had multi-steal games.
Johnson and Fields combined for six of the seven made three-pointers for the Spartans, shooting a combined 50 percent from behind-the-arc.
Johnson led all scorers with 19 points, seven rebounds, four steals on 5-of-16 shooting and 3-of-6 from three. She was perfect from the line, going 6-for-6.
Fields finished with 11 points, two steals and two assists. Williams scored in double figures as well with 12 points, six rebounds, and two steals.
