ROCK HILL, S.C. --- The Norfolk State men's cross-country team earned a 12th-place finish Friday morning at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships.

NSU improved on last year's team standing by three spots. The event featured 33 teams with over 230 runners, placing 23-45-46-66-169.

Senior Gidion Sigei led the way for the Spartans, completing the 10k course in 30:35.00 to finish 23rd out of a field of over 230 runners.

Sigei earned all-region honors following the meet becoming the first Spartan to receive all-region honors since David Kemboi in 2006.

Senior Brian Rotich clocked a time of 31:17.30 (45th place) while senior Raphael Kitur closely followed placing 46th (31:17.40).

Senior Victor Jumo (31:39.30 - 66th place) and Sophomore Basil Koech (34:15.30 – 181st place) rounded out the Spartans' finishers.

"We had a great season with the men defeating some power five programs," head coach Kenneth Giles said. "We finished higher than we were ranked, and I am very pleased with what this team accomplished this season."
