WACO, Texas – The Norfolk State men's basketball team hits the road once again for its seventh game away from home in an eight-game span, this time against a nationally-ranked opponent.

The Spartans (6-4) square off against No. 25 Baylor (6-3) for a matinee matchup on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at Foster Pavillion. The matchup marks the fifth meeting between the Bears and Norfolk State, as NSU looks for its first win against the Big 12 school.

Norfolk State looks to bounce back from an 80-67 loss to Hofstra on Monday evening, snapping the Spartans' 18-game home winning streak dating back to the 2022-23 season. 59 of Hofstra's 80 points came from three players: Cruz Davis (20) KiJan Robinson (20) and Jean Aranguren (19).

Jalen Myers led Norfolk State with 17 points and five rebounds, knocking down three 3-pointers. The Spartans shot 24-of-26 from the free throw line (92.3 percent), remaining the top team in the MEAC at the charity stripe by large margin with an 82.1 percent success rate this season.

A road loss to UConn dropped Baylor out of the AP Top 25 ranking, but the Bears remain in the Coaches Poll going into Wednesday's showdown. All of Baylor's losses this season have come against ranked opponents, including No. 11 Tennessee – who plays Norfolk State in just a few weeks.

Fifth year forward Norchad Omier leads the Bears with 15.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. Omier was named Big 12 Conference Player of the Week earlier this season after a spectacular showing in the Continental Tire Baha Mar Bahamas Championship, averaging 23.0 points and 10 rebounds per game across the tournament.
