NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men's basketball team continues its nonconference road stretch with a matchup against a Horizon League opponent this weekend.

The Spartans head to Highland Heights, Kentucky to face Northern Kentucky on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. Norfolk State (6-5) will look to end its two-game losing streak whilst snapping NKU's (4-6) two-game winning streak.

Norfolk State couldn't overcome nationally ranked Baylor on the road earlier this week, falling 94-69 at Foster Pavillion. The Spartans remained neck and neck with the Bears throughout the first half, before the home team outscored NSU 55-36 in the second period to take full control of the ball game.

Norfolk State senior Christian Ings led the Spartans with 12 points and four assists on Tuesday, shooting 4-of-6 from the floor. After going 24-of-26 (92.3 percent) from the free throw line two days before Hofstra, Norfolk State struggled at the line against Baylor, hitting just 13-of-21 attempts (61.9 percent).

Northern Kentucky opened its Horizon League schedule with a win, defeating IU Indy 66-64 on the road last week. The teams stood tied at 64 in the game's final moments, before guard Trey Robinson earned a defensive goaltending call at the horn to send the visiting team back to Highland Heights with a thrilling victory.

The Spartans and Norse men's basketball programs will meet for just the third time ever this weekend. Northern Kentucky won both of the previous meetings during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 season.

Sunday's game will air live on ESPN+.
