NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men's basketball team will return to the warm confines of Joseph G. Echols Hall on Monday night after a six-game road stretch that spanned an entire month.
 
The Spartans (6-3) go head-to-head with Hofstra (7-3) at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9 looking for a third consecutive win. The matchup will mark jus the third-ever showdown between the programs, with Hofstra winning both previous meetings.
 
Norfolk State earned a road win in the Empire State last week, defeating Stony Brook 77-66 behind a well-rounded performance from the entire starting lineup. Four Spartans scored in double figures against the Seawolves: Brian Moore Jr. (18), Jalen Myers (15), Christian Ings (11) and Jaylani Darden (10).
 
After a scoreless first half, Moore tallied all of his 18 points in the second period on a 6-of-7 shooting performance. Ings distributed the ball with ease throughout the day, racking up five assists.
 
Hofstra has opened the 2024-25 campaign by winning seven of its first 10 games, including two victories in the Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship in the Bahamas. Davis Cruz leads the Pride with 14.9 points per game, shooting 34.4 percent from behind the arc.
 
Monday's game will feature a "Hampton Roads HasTalent" show at halftime.

  • Norfolk State closed out a six-game road stretch with a 77-66 victory over Stony Brook last week
