Spartans Take Out Eagles to Stay Perfect at Home

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk State women's basketball team defeated North Carolina Central Monday 72-44 at Joseph Echols Hall.

The Spartans (19-5, 8-1 MEAC) are ranked top of the MEAC and will continue to stay there after their defeat of North Carolina Central (12-12, 6-3 MEAC) who sit in second place.

Having beat the Eagles earlier this year, 81-60, on Jan. 8 in Durham, N.C. the Spartans have swept the series for the 2023-24 season. The Spartans have beaten the Eagles in five consecutive games.

Diamond Johnson led all scorers with 20 points as she was one of four Spartans to finish in double figures: Kierra Wheeler (14), Da'Brya Clark (11), and Anjanae Richardson (10) finished in double-digits as well.

Johnson has had some very dominant performances as she has scored 20 or more points in three straight games.

Causing 29 Eagle turnovers was the second most the Spartans have caused all season. The team finished with 15 steals and converted 19 points of turnovers.
