Spartans Competed at MEAC No. 2 Tournament

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk State women's bowling team competed in its last Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) event of the season last weekend from Feb. 17-18.

The Spartans competed in eight matches over the weekend, all in the five-person team, total pinfall format.

On day one, the Spartans did not garner a win over their five opponents: North Carolina A&T (851-919), UAB (983-997), Delaware State (890-919), Morgan State (884-949), and Monmouth (826-898).

Day two saw the Spartans win two of their three matches. They defeated Howard (871-858) and Coppin State (856-917), falling to Maryland Eastern Shore (910-1,015).

Jazmin Esquibel and Megan Wheat tied for the most against North Carolina A&T with 189. Wheat led the Spartans against Monmouth (188) and Howard (216). LaShauna Burrus led the team in total pinfall against Coppin State (191) and UAB (229).

Jalaya Allen led against Morgan State (189) and Maryland Eastern Shore (196). Lastly, Kiersten Michel led with 209 against Delaware State.

The Spartans had a total pinfall average of 883 across the eight games. Megan Wheat led all Spartans averaging 182 pins.

Coming up- The Spartans will compete in the Stallings Invitational on Feb. 23-25 in Greensboro, N.C.
