NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men's tennis dropped its second match of the spring, 4-0, at Old Dominion on Wednesday afternoon.
Using the clinch format, the teams opened with singles play and did not conduct any doubles competition the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
Connor van Schalwyk got the day started with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over
Vladisav Gorbatenko at the top singles position, putting Old Dominion on the board. The Monarchs earned another point soon after, as Jakob Cadonau defeated
Boris Lunin 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 5 position.
Cosme Rolland DeRavel took down NSU freshman
Frederick McRae 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 2 position, before Yanis Moundir closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win over
Jakub Solarski on Court 3.
Two matches went unfinished. The Spartans lost the first set in both, but held leads in the respective second sets of each match when play stopped.
