Spartans Earn Four Wins at Griffin Baker Classic

LIMERICK, Pa. - The Norfolk State women's bowling team competed in the Griffin Baker Classic this past weekend winning four games across the two day event.

On Saturday for the total pinfall portion of the event, the Spartans garnered wins against Bryant (876-817), St. Thomas Aquinas (883-792), and Holy Family (828-680). They dropped close matches to Wagner (846-800) and Caldwell (962-902).

On day two, the Spartans played Wagner and Molloy in match play format, dropping both matches. Against Molloy, the Spartans lost 4-1 and against Wagner fell 4-2.

The team bowled 188 and 183, respectively in the game two and three spot against the Seahawks, to put them up 2-1, but that wasn't enough as Wagner won each of the last three games to go on to win.

Norfolk State split the last two matches of the day in total pinfall format, beating Chestnut Hill 848-747 and falling to Monmouth 900-826. The Spartans clinched the victory of the Griffins with a score of 240 in the final game.

The Spartans averaged 865.8 pinfall across all 46 games winning four of the nine matches played. Across their four wins the Spartans averaged 858.7 pinfall.
