NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk State softball team featured Hampton in the Battle of the Bay matchup on Tuesday, Mar. 19 at the NSU Softball Field falling to the Pirates 13-4.
The Spartans (2-26) fell to the Pirates (7-20) after an eight-run fifth secured them the win..
In the second inning down 2-0, the Spartans captured the lead on a three-run home run by
Lauren Sheehan to go up, 3-0.
Sheehan is one of two Spartans to hit a home run this season, with the other being
Rylie Gilbreath who has two.
Gilbreath scored
Kailey Bryant from third who reached on a fielding error and advanced on a groundout and a passed ball.
Gilbreath leads the team in hits (26), doubles (6), home runs (2), and RBIs (10) this season.
Coming up - The Spartans have moved their Saturday and Sunday games against North Carolina Central to Thursday at 2 and 4 p.m. and Friday at 11 a.m. at home due to inclement weather.
