CARY, N.C. – The Norfolk State men's tennis team earned its second win of the MEAC Tennis Roundup, defeating Coppin State 6-1 on Saturday at Cary Tennis Park.

The Spartans (7-7, 2-0 MEAC) swept doubles play for the first point of the afternoon. Freshman duo
Antoni Pankowski and
Jakub Solarski earned a 6-2 victory at the No. 1 slot, before
Vladisav Gorbatenko and
Frederick McRae teamed up for a 6-4 win at the No. 2 position.

With the doubles point secured,
Boris Lunin and
Deniz Okyay won 6-4 on Court 3 as well for good measure.

Coppin State (1-11, 0-2) couldn't find much better luck against the Spartans in singles play.

Gorbatenko moved the lead to 2-0 with a dominant performance at the top of the lineup, defeating Tinashe Whata 6-1, 6-0. Lunin posted a similar score on Court 6, cruising past Ulugbe, Abdurahmonov 6-0, 6-1.

Pankowski, a recent MEAC Rookie of the Week selection, defeated Liam Murtaugh 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 5 position in what would have been the clinching point for the Spartans. Okyay kept the momentum going with a 6-1, 6-2 win on Court 3, before McRae bested Rick Nieke 7-6, 6-4 at the No. 4 slot.

Coppin State earned its lone point of the day on Court 2, as Vansh Kapoor defeated Solarski 7-6, 6-2.
