CARY, N.C. – Norfolk State senior
Gabriela Davidescu earned a three-set singles victory at the No. 1 position on Sunday against Delaware State, as the Hornets defeated Norfolk State 6-1 at Cary Tennis Park.

Delaware State (7-3, 1-1) swept doubles play for the first point of the day over the Spartans (2-9, 1-2). The Hornets won 6-1 on both Courts 2 and 3, before narrowly closing out a 7-5 victory at the top spot.

Clara Kuehnle defeated
Irina Ioana Iurea 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 2 position, before Daria Jula took down
Alessia Stan 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 3 slot.

Davidescu came-from-behind to pull out the win at the top of the lineup over Kit Yi Kaye Au Yeung. After dropping the first set, Davidescu fought back to win 1-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Brooklyn Bowen bested
Isabella Cottrell 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 6 position.

The Hornets pulled off two three-set victories as well. Camilla Mitolo defeated
Sabina Maria Iurea 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 5 position, while Clara Kuehnle took down
Irina Ioana Iurea 6-2, 6-0 on Court 2.
