Bulldogs Defeat Spartans in Orangeburg

Box Score ORANGEBURG, S.C. – South Carolina State remained undefeated in conference play, defeating Norfolk State 7-0 at Hardeep Judge Tennis Center on Monday.
 
The Spartans (2-13, 1-4 MEAC) could not match an impressive day from South Carolina State (11-3, 5-0 MEAC), the defending conference champion.
 
Norfolk State came away with one victory in doubles play but couldn't earn the opening point of the day. South Carolina State won 6-1 on Court 1 and 6-0 on Court 3, before freshmen Alessia Stan and Irana Ioana Iurea pulled off a 7-6 (7-4) victory in doubles at the No. 2 position.
 
The Bulldogs went ahead 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 win on Court 6. Hind Semlali took down Iurea 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 2 slot, and Rachida Berjane clinched the team match with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Stan on Court 3 soon after.
 
Nalanda Silva beat Laura Ruiz 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 4 position, before Teodora Vujicic came away with a 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-8) victory over Sabina Maria Iurea on Court 5.
 
Gabriela Davidescu took her first singles loss of conference play at the top spot of the lineup, falling 3-6, 7-6, 1-0 (10-5) to Sofiya Chursina in a stellar match from both sides.
