Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BALTIMORE, MD - The Norfolk State softball team traveled to Baltimore, MD for a double header Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) series against Coppin State on Saturday at the Coppin State Softball Complex.

The Spartans (4-38, 3-14 MEAC) fought hard against the Eagles behind great performances highlighted by a home run by Maddy Morris. The Spartans dropped both games to the Eagles, losing 4-3 in game one and 9-0 in game two.

Morris's home run lead off the top of the second inning for the Spartans as they continued to their hot start.

Game one saw Aniyah Michalak doubled down the left field line in her at-bat which set up Hudson to score her in for a run after her single to center field.

After Morris's home run, pitcher Brierra Tyler doubled and Kachelle Refour walked to put runners in scoring position with no outs.

Kira Turner hit a sacrifice bunt to move the runners bringing up the Spartans leader in hits up to bat, Rylie Gilbreath.

On a 1-2 count and one out, Gilbreath hit a sacrifice fly to the right fielder to score Brierra Tyler from third as the Spartans went up, 3-0.

Tyler pitched a 6.2 inning complete game striking out four while only allowing three earned runs. On the offensive end, Tyler recorded a double and scored in a run.

A three-run bottom of the second by the Eagles tied the game at three runs a piece.
