Spartans Rise in USTFCCCA Southeast Rankings

| By:
NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State track and field program continues to boost its reputation on a national, regional, and local level.

Both the Spartan men's and women's teams earned impressive TFRI rankings this week for the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) Southeast region. Norfolk State came in at No. 16 in the men's poll, while the women's team earned the No. 33 ranking.

Norfolk State rose in both rankings this week. The Spartan men went up two spots from their previous No. 18 ranking, while the women moved up one slot. The men's team started the outdoor season at No. 21.

The USTFCCCA is a non-profit professional organization representing cross country and track & field coaches of all levels.

In the national ranking, the Norfolk State men jumped up nine places from No. 152 to No. 143.

The Spartans head to Philadelphia, Pa. next week for the Penn Relays, one of the team's final tests before the MEAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The MEAC Championships will take place at Norfolk State's William "Dick Price Stadium" from May 6-8.
