DURHAM, N.C. – The Norfolk State women's tennis team fell 7-0 to North Carolina Central on Sunday morning in the Spartans' last conference match of the regular season.

North Carolina Central (6-13, 3-2 MEAC swept doubles play to open the morning. After the Spartans (2-14, 1-5) lost the No. 3 position by default, NCCU earned victories on Courts 1 and 2 by scores of 6-4 and 7-5, respectively.

Alejandra Hidalgo took down
Gabriela Davidescu 6-3, 6-2 at the top position to open singles play, before Candice Bernier bested
Laura Ruiz 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 3 slot. Jade Houston beat
Irina Ioana Iurea 6-4, 6-3 on Court 2 to clinch the match for North Carolina Central.

Patricia Palencia defeated
Sabina Maria Iurea 6-4, 7-6 (6) at the No. 4 position, before Isabelle Exsted closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over
Isabella Cottrell on Court 5. The Eagles won the No. 6 position by default.

Norfolk State returns to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Apr. 13, travelling to Greenville, N.C. to face East Carolina.
