Journette Selected to All-NEC Second Team

| By:
BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – Norfolk State baseball star Justin Journette's historic sophomore season has come to a close, but the accolades keep pouring in for the Richmond native.

Journette earned All-Northeast Conference (NEC) second team honors on Tuesday afternoon, becoming the first Spartan to receive an all-conference recognition since Norfolk State's baseball program joined the NEC ahead of the 2023 season.

Breaking the team's Division I record, Journette launched 15 home runs this year, the most by a Norfolk State player since Reggie Terry's 15 in 1995. Improving on a stellar freshman season, Journette posted a .304 batting average, .391 on base percentage, and .619 slugging percentage in his second collegiate campaign.

Journette drove in 47 runs on 59 hits, tallying 10 doubles and three triples. He ranked third in the conference in home runs, fifth in slugging percentage, and sixth in triples.

Making his first appearance in the event, Journette will play in the 2024 Minority Baseball Prospects HBCU All-Star Game, slated for 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 1 in Houston, Texas. He will be joined by teammate Manny Jackson, a two-time selection.
