NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and External Engagement Christina Ruffin has received a prestigious recognition, earning the N4A Kenneth O. Miles Professional Excellence Award.
Given to one member from each region, the N4A Professional Excellence Award honors professionals with six to 15 years in the field. The recipients of the award have displayed active N4A involvement at the regional and/or national level and shown commitment to improving their department, often going above and beyond the tasks/responsibilities outlined in their job descriptions.
They must also have the ability to meet their students' needs and address critical issues within athletics and/or the campus community, while being well respected and viewed as leaders/mentors among their colleagues in the industry.
N4A, short for the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals, is the official community of practitioners dedicated to the academic and personal development of student-athletes, preparing them for success. The Association is committed to the advocacy, education, professional development, and advancement of its members, while promoting integrity in practices on an institutional and global level.
Ruffin, entering her 14
th year working in the Norfolk State athletics department, will begin her first year as the assistant AD for marketing and external engagement for the 2024-25 campaign. She previously served as the assistant athletic director of academics and student services.
