Freshman Jasmine Mataira and sophomore Gabrielle Gilbert combined for nine service aces.

The Spartans 8-0 run in the first set allowed them to gain a 19-11 lead over the Bucs. Mataira posted two service aces in that span, joined by a kill by senior Alexa Harris and junior Sydney McCree.

After capturing the lead, the Spartans never trailed resulting in the 25-20 win in the first set.
