NORFOLK, Va. –
The Norfolk State men's basketball team faces a pair of Baltimore opponents this weekend, one at home and one on the road, after a spectacular start to conference play.

The Spartans (11-7, 2-0 MEAC) battle Coppin State (2-14, 1-1) at Echols Hall on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 4:30 p.m., before facing Morgan State (7-11, 1-1) in Hill Field House at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 13.

Norfolk State pulled out a gritty 73-64 victory at Delaware State in a shorthanded road effort on Monday, marking the team's 17th victory over the Hornets in their last 18 meetings. With standout guard Brian Moore Jr. fighting a nagging injury and senior Christian Ings out with an illness, the Spartans leaned on their role players to step up in clutch moments.

Jalen Myers led the Spartans with 20 points and nine rebounds, shooting 9-of-13 from the floor against the Hornets. Jaylani Darden stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and three steals, while Sin'Cere McMahon added 15 crucial points off the bench.

After playing a grueling non-conference schedule, Coppin State opened its MEAC slate with a 63-61 upset over North Carolina Central, holding the Eagles to a 1-of-15 showing from behind the arc.

Morgan State opened MEAC play with a loss to South Carolina State, before picking up a high-scoring double overtime win against North Carolina Central (102-98). Redshirt senior  Kameron Hobbs scored a career high 40 points in the win over NCCU.

Both games will air on ESPN + with radio coverage available on WNSB 91.1 FM.
