Norfolk State Men's Basketball Signs Metro Conference Player of the Year

NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State head men's basketball coach Robert Jones has announced the program's first signing of the 2026–27 class, securing Virginia Beach native Justin Jones, a standout guard from Atlantic Shores Christian School.

"Justin will add much-needed shooting and basketball IQ," said Jones. "As with any high school player, there will be a learning curve, but we look forward to him having a great career as a Spartan."

A 6-foot-1 guard, Jones is rated the No. 8 combo guard in Virginia by PrepHoops.com. He posted an impressive junior campaign, averaging 19.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists. His performance earned him 2025 Metro Conference Player of the Year honors.

Jones chose Norfolk State over offers from Stetson, Columbia, and Penn.

Norfolk State is off to a 2–2 start this season, earning wins over Washington Adventist and Regent. The Spartans hit the road this weekend for their first mid-major ranked opponent, traveling to face No. 18 Towson on Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m.
