BALITMORE, Md. --- Norfolk State outside hitter
Gabrielle Gilbert earned a spot on the All-MEAC First Team, announced by the conference on Wednesday evening. The honor marks her third First Team selection.
Gilbert powered the Spartans' attack throughout the regular season, finishing with 397 kills and averaging 3.93 kills per set—both ranking third in the MEAC. She added 461 points (4.56 per set), 157 digs, 46 blocks and 38 service aces.
She delivered several standout performances, including a career-high 26 kills in a win over Hampton on Nov. 4 and 25 kills in a five-set battle with Delaware State on Nov. 2. Gilbert posted double-digit kills in 24 matches, including five with 20 or more.
Gilbert finished the season with a .206 hitting percentage on 1,149 total attacks. She turned in some of her most efficient outings during conference play, highlighted by a .390 performance against Morgan State on Oct. 24 and a .353 mark against South Carolina State on Nov. 7.
Norfolk State opens postseason play in the MEAC Tournament Quarterfinals on Thursday, Nov. 20, as the No. 7 seed, facing No. 2 seed Howard at 5 p.m. on the campus of Coppin State University.
