NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk State men's basketball team returns to Echols Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 5, hosting the Regent Royals for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
About the Game
Wednesday's matchup marks the third all-time meeting between the two programs, with Norfolk State holding a 2-0 advantage in the series. The Spartans claimed the most recent meeting during the 2021–22 season with a commanding 95-20 victory over the Royals.
Norfolk State Outlook
Norfolk State opened the 2025–26 season on a strong note, earning a 98–76 victory over Washington Adventist on Monday night at Echols Hall.
Senior transfer Anthony McComb III led the Spartans with 19 points, shooting 7-of-12 from the field and 4-of-5 from the free-throw line. Redshirt freshman My'kel Jenkins made an impressive collegiate debut, tallying 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting while adding six rebounds.
Elijah Jamison (14), Devon Ellis (12), Jordan Leaks (11) and Keyontae Lewis (11) also scored in double figures, with Lewis converting 7-of-10 from the charity stripe.
As a team, Norfolk State shot 51.6 percent (32-of-62) from the floor while limiting Washington Adventist to 38.2 percent (21-of-55). The Spartans controlled the glass with a 39-28 rebounding advantage and forced 10 steals compared to four by the Shock.
Regent Outlook
Regent University men's basketball enters a new era in 2025–26, competing as a provisional NCAA member and joining the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference for its first full Division III campaign.
Head Coach Michael Allen begins his first full season at the helm after serving as interim head coach for 15 games last year. The Royals return nine players from the 2024–25 roster, providing a strong foundation as they transition into NCAA competition.
Leading the way is Darrin Clark, the program's all-time scoring leader, following a record-setting 2024–25 season. Clark is joined by veteran returners Brendan Goods and Joshua Vogt (seniors), Micah Eastman, Logan McElveen, and Antoine Brown (juniors), along with sophomores Brandon Williams and Christian Brown. Senior Vladimir Vibert also returns from injury after averaging 13.0 points per game last season.
Antoine Brown set the program's single-season double-double record last year and ranks second all-time in scoring behind Clark, while Christian Brown led the team with 18.6 points per game.
A Look Ahead
Norfolk State remains home for its third straight contest to open the season, hosting the College of William & Mary on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Echols Hall. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. against the Tribe, marking the first of three matchups this season against NCAA Division I opponents from the 757 area..m.
