CLEMSON, S.C. – The Norfolk State women's track & field team opened the indoor season with a youthful lineup at the Clemson Opener, registering seven top-10 finishes against a deep field on Friday.
Payton Drumwright delivered the Spartans' highest finish of the day, placing fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 57.91. Teammate Jada Arrington followed closely behind with a seventh-place finish in 58.54.
Norfolk State posted a strong collection of sixth-place performances, led by Brooklyn Robinson in the 200 meters (24.48), Amira Dailey in the 3,000 meters (10:10.9), Yowome Ayim in the long jump (5.71m), and the women's 4x400 relay team with a time of 3:50.5.
Moamiky Kenneh rounded out the Spartans' top-10 finishers with a seventh-place result in the 1,000 meters, clocking 3:07.5.
In the sprints, Brandy Hall narrowly missed advancing to the finals of the 60-meter dash, finishing just four-hundredths of a second shy of a qualifying spot in the preliminaries.
