Norfolk State and South Dakota Meet for the First Time in School History

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk State softball team added the University of South Dakota to its list of faced opponents after meeting the Coyotes for the first time in school history on Saturday.

The Spartans (6-6) fell in both doubleheader games to USD, 3-0 in game one and 7-0 in game two.

Bottom of the third inning, Lauren Sheehan doubled through the right side, before being advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Kachelle Refour, to put a runner in scoring position for the Spartans with two outs.

Kailey Bryant struck out to end the inning with one left on for the Spartans.

Lauren Sheehan tallied two doubles in as many at-bats in game one. Her second double came in the bottom of the fifth.

Qween Olivia Edmonds also recorded a hit in game one as well. Edmonds is the Spartans' leader in hits (16) and doubles (5).

In game two, Edmonds, Emree Sky Obispo, Bryant, and Shorts each recorded a hit, but the Coyotes were able to garner seven runs on 14 hits to capture the victory.
