Moore Named Finalist for Riley Wallace Award

| By:
NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State men's basketball guard Brian Moore Jr. has been named a finalist for the 2024-25 Riley Wallace Award, announced by CollegeInsider.com on Wednesday afternoon.

The award is presented annually to the most impactful transfer in Division I college basketball.

The award is named in honor of the longtime Hawaii coach. During his coaching career at Hawaii, Riley Wallace welcomed many transfers into the program and became the winningest coach in program history. Wallace guided Hawaii to nine postseason appearances, including a school-record streak of four straight from 2001-04.

The Warriors appeared in the NCAA Tournament three times under Wallace and have been invited to the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) on six occasions. Prior to his arrival, the program had just one NCAA appearance and two trips to the NIT.

Moore has taken the MEAC by storm in his lone season with the Spartans after transferring from Murray State. The Harlem, N.Y. product currently averages 19.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game while shooting 55.6 percent from the floor and 42.2 percent from behind the arc. He is the only guard in the nation averaging at least 18 points per game while shooting 55.0 percent from the field or better (min. 20 games played).

Receiving MEAC Player of the Week accolades five times this season, Moore recorded three 30-point games including a 33-point outing at High Point. He was named the Lou Henson National Player of the Week in December, awarded to the top performer in mid-major basketball.

The recipient of the award is determined by a 10-member voting committee, which consists of current and former head coaches, as well as two senior staff members of collegeinsider.com.

The 2025 award will be announced in San Antonio, TX, site of the men's Division I Basketball Championship.
