Winfield Produces Strong Showing at NCAA Indoor National Championships

NORFOLK, Va. --- Norfolk State men's track athlete Kendrick Winfield represented NSU at the NCAA Indoor National Championships on Friday evening, competing in the 200 meters at the Virginia Beach Sports Complex
 
Winfield took 13th place in the 200 meters prelims, clocking a time of 20.87, finishing two spots ahead of his qualifying seed. He became NSU's first male student-athlete to compete at the indoor national championship since Trequan Barnes in 2019.
 
"Kendrick represented the University, our program, and the MEAC very well," Director of Track & Field Programs Kenneth Giles said.
 
Winfield and the Norfolk State track & field team returns to action next week, opening the outdoor season in Tampa, Fla. at the South Florida Alumni Invite from Mar. 21-22.
