Box Score CARY, N.C. – The Norfolk State women's tennis team came up short of victory in its final conference match of the 2025 regular season, falling 5-2 to North Carolina Central at Cary Tennis Park.

The Spartans (11-10, 3-3 MEAC) got off to a strong start, sweeping the opening doubles point.
Yuliya Yurkova and Carolina Nicholls earned a 6-3 win on Court 3, before
Ines Sabadie and
Sofiya Tsitavets notched the same result on Court 2.
Angelina Maniawska and
Irina Iurea took care of business at the top slot with a 7-6 (2) triumph.

North Carolina Central (9-8, 4-1) tied the match up with a quick win by retirement at the No. 4 position, before Mariana Zottoli took down Sabadie 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 3 spot. Gabriela Mejia Arenas defeated Maniawska 6-4, 6-1 on Court 6, putting the Eagles ahead 3-1.

Alejandra Hidalgo Vega took down Yurkova 6-4, 6-4 at the top spot in the lineup to clinch the match for North Carolina Central, before Valeria San Miguel Soria bested Tsitavets 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 at the No. 2 position.
Irina Iurea gave the Spartans the closing point by defeating Valentina de Aquino Mosanto 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 on Court 5.
